THE EXPEDITION
The Climb



The Mount Logan Expedition is part of the Summits of Canada Expedition to climb the highest point in each of Canada’s 13 Provinces and Territories. The Expedition team is 14 people, 4 women and 10 men. There are three focuses for the Expedition:
A small plane will fly two climbers at a time, one hour from Kluane Lake up onto Mount Logan on Quintino Sella Glacier to Base Camp. The Expedition is scheduled to be on Mount Logan for 30 days and is totally dependent on weather for moving on the mountain. There are 6 camps planned:
  • Base Camp – 2,800 m
  • Camp I – 3,400 m
  • Camp II – 4,200 m
  • Camp III – 4,470 m
  • Camp IV – 5,100 m
  • Camp V – 5,250 m
- Our ascent will be via the Kings Trench Route.
- The route is 26 km long, but the team will climb a total of 60 km.
- The entire climb involves roped glacier travel.
- 90% of the climb will be on AT Skis.
- There are 1,470 meals planned weighing over 500 kgs.
- There are 47 cans of fuel weighing 80 kgs.
- There is more than 300 kgs of group gear.
