SUMMITS OF CANADA POSTER CONTEST

We are asking students to be creative, have fun, and get artsy with our Summits of Canada Poster Contest. There are three categories in which students can enter, and their artwork must be original!

Categories/Themes
The 3 categories which the students may choose from are:

Canada Create a Poster based on why and what you love about Canada.
Province Create a Poster based on why and what you love about your Province or Territory
Expedition Create a Poster based on your impression of the Summits of Canada Expedition.

Eligibility
This contest is open to students of Canadian schools that have Registered with the Summits Of Canada Expedition website.

Get Creative
The great thing about artwork is that it is taps into each person's creative side and opens up all kinds of possibilities. Not wanting to put any limits upon each student's imagination, we are encouraging each person to work with whatever medium they feel comfortable with:

-
posters may be created with paint, ink, pencil, charcoal, watercolours, felt pens, oils, chalk, etc.
-
have a talent for digital? you can also create a poster on your computer ... just make sure it's original
-
posters may be in colour or in black and white
-
posters may be of Any size ... feeling inspired and want to create something 10 feet high ... Go For It!
-
create a single image, or create a collage of images
-
combine your images with your own original text, poetry, a personal quotation, or even haiku
-
use a single material or combine materials

Contest Entries
We can't, of course, receive all of your posters by mail, soooo ... each entry will need to have a digital picture taken of the poster and forwarded to us by email. Please send your entries to:

In the "Subject Line", please use the following:

SOC: Poster Contest Entry - Category X

*** Please substitute the "X" for the appropriate Category you are entering (eg. - Canada, Province/Territory, or Expedition).

Entry Guidelines
Images taken of posters should be no larger than 2,000 pixels in width or height and a maximum of 4 MB for the file size.

A half decent digital camera will be sufficient for taking pictures of each Poster Entry. Be sure to have proper lighting when taking the picture, and try not to "crop" any part of the image/poster when taking the picture. The great thing about digital: you can review it right away, and if you don't like it, you can delete and take another shot.

Please ensure you have reviewed the image and it meets your satisfaction before sending.

If you are a teacher submitting a number of files on behalf of your students, please send one email (and attached poster image file) per entry, along with the requisite details noted below.

IMPORTANT
When sending a Poster Entry by email ...
don't forget to
Include The File/Image Attachment! ;)

In the body of your email, please include the following:

- Your Full Name, Age & Grade
- Your School's Name
- Your Teacher's Name
- School Location
(Address, City, State/Prov, Postal/Zip Code, Country)
- School Phone Number
- Valid Email Address
- Subject Line (see above)

Note: winning entries, and possibly a sampling of "contender" entries may also be posted up in the Summits Of Canada Gallery of photos, in a "Posters" section for all to view and to share with the followers of the expedition. Who knows, maybe we'll discover a future creative talent in the making! :)
